San José and the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park
The hostal is in San José, a small seaside village inside the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park. Here are some places you should not miss.

San José
San José is a small, quiet village of white houses, with a beach and a small marina.
The hostal is on Calle Balandro, a two-minute walk from the beach, so the beach and the harbour are just a short stroll away.
Los Genoveses beach
One of the best-known beaches in the park: a wide, undeveloped stretch of sand surrounded by dunes and low hills, very close to San José.
You are in a protected natural area: bring water and something for shade, and take everything you brought back with you.

Mónsul beach
Another iconic Cabo de Gata beach, known for its large volcanic rock by the water's edge and its dune. It is also very close to San José.

Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park
Cabo de Gata is one of the last unspoiled corners of the Mediterranean: volcanic landscape, cliffs, hidden coves and undeveloped beaches.
The park's coastal trails let you walk along much of the coastline. Check the route before you set off, bring water and sun protection, and respect the rules of the protected area.

Activities on land and at sea
Surfing, snorkelling and kayaking in crystal-clear waters, hiking routes or horse rides through the volcanic landscape.
If you are coming as a group, we can help you organise sports and sightseeing activities: see our groups page.
The salt flats and birdwatching
At the Cabo de Gata salt flats (Las Salinas) you can watch flamingos, gulls and migratory birds. Bring binoculars and keep your distance so as not to disturb the wildlife.
